Hoi An Walking Tour: Wandering around Hoi An Old Town is the best way to discover its beauty. Hoi An walking tour with Explore Vietnam highlights the history, culture, and traditions of this old town, as well as the places where old meets new. Because cars are not permitted, your local tour guide will accompany you on foot through the narrow, winding streets. Cafes, local restaurants, art galleries, shops filled with lanterns, and, of course, the silk for which the town is famous can be found in hidden nooks and crannies.

Since the 16th century, Hoi An has been an international trading port and a stop on the world’s Silk Road. Hoi An Old Town is now a rare example of a traditional Southeast Asian port city that has been well preserved. The buildings reflect the influence of Chinese and Japanese architecture, particularly along Tran Phu and Nguyen Thai Hoc Street. The main attractions in Hoi An are all located within the UNESCO protected area adjacent to the river.

HOI AN WALKING TOUR

8:00 AM/2:00PM/5:00PM: We received your reservation in the morning, afternoon, or evening. Our tour guide will pick you up from your hotel in Hoi An Old Town center and and take you on your Hoi An walking tour.

  • Stroll through the charming streets of Hoi An Old Town and learn about the people and their history. Enjoy Hoi An’s historic beauty as you stroll down the Thu Bon River’s bank through the town’s winding streets.
  • Stop by the Japanese Covered Bridge to see the Hoi An Old Town symbol. During the early 1600s, a Japanese covered bridge was constructed. It has a significant historical significance in this city, which was an important trading port for many traders from Japan, China, the Netherlands, and India until the 17th century. The Chinese and the Japanese communities were divided by a little brook, but this bridge linked them. Over centuries, the bridge has connected the past, present, and future.
  • Visit Fujian Assembly Hall – the first place of worship for those who immigrated from Fujian, China, to Hoi An in the 17th century. Fujian Assembly Hall is one of Hoi An Ancient Town’s five renowned assembly halls and a religious relic. The Hall has all of the basic structural features of a Chinese Assembly Hall. If you happen to walk into this hall, you’ll be greeted by a stunning structure that combines delicate and classical beauty.
  • Admire Tan Ky Old House – Hoi’s oldest merchant house in old town. Tan Ky Old House is one of the few that has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is a 200-year-old Vietnamese merchant house with a seamless blend of three different architectural styles (Vietnamese, Japanese, and Chinese). Despite being built more than two centuries ago, this structure retains the original beauty of ancient Hoi An. Furthermore, the old house is a special place that has preserved a variety of priceless antiquity. It has become well-known among tourists thanks to its distinctive ancient Hoi An architecture and long-standing traditional cultures.
  • Visit some of the well-known handicraft shops and art galleries in Hoi An. Discover smaller laneways and local neighborhoods to gain a better understanding of Hoi An’s endless charm.
  • Explore the Hoi An market – the largest in the ancient town of Hoi An. The local life in Hoi An is fascinatingly revealed by this traditional market. The Market will stimulate all of your senses, but make sure to visit several vendors before making a purchase. Take your time, browse the market for a while, and then return to the stalls you found most appealing. Even if you’re not looking for food, this is a fascinating place to visit.

Thank you Robert!!! Robert was an amazing guide with so much knowledge about Nimh Binh and the history of Vietnam. This helped us make connections to the creation of the country with what we were physically seeing, ultimately allowing us to appreciate the land.
