MY SON SANCTUARY TOUR FROM DA NANG – HAFL DAY
Between the fourth and fourteenth centuries, a culture based on Indian Hinduism existed on the coast of modern Vietnam – My Son Sanctuary. It is a one-of-a-kind culture on the coast of modern Vietnam. The ruins of a number of outstanding tower temples in a dramatic location served as architectural illustrations of past cultures. My Son Sanctuary appeals to those seeking a vivid depiction of spiritual and political life during an important period in South-East Asia’s history. Specially, My Son Sanctuary was designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in December 1999.
My Son Sanctuary is one of the most beautiful and impressive Cham temples in Vietnam. Each temple has a distinct architectural style that reflects the Champa kingdoms’ historical stages. Due to natural disasters and war-related damage, only about 20 of these temple towers remain in My Son. Nonetheless, it remains a popular tourist destination for visitors from all over the world. The culture, history, and architecture of the Champa Ancient Kingdom attract visitors.
Itinerary:
- 07:00 AM:Â In the morning, our private car and tour guide will pick you up from your Da Nang hotel before we begin our My Son Sanctuary Tour From Da Nang. The distance between Da Nang and My Son is approximately 42 kilometers, so our journey will take approximately one hour.
- Arrive at My Son Sanctuary and begin your journey to the Valley of Kings. An electric car will meet you at the main gate and transport you to the sanctuary location. You can hear the stone walls there talking about the Champa culture’s gods of worship, dancing gods, and other mysteries that have still not been fully revealed. Our English-speaking local guide will explain the history of this Champa Kingdom center of worship as you explore the area.
- You will visit the My Son Museum, which is also located near the My Son Temples, to learn more about the Kingdom of Cham and the Champa people. The museum’s relics and statues will tell you more about Champa’s past kings, their people’s lives, and how important religion is to them. Making My Son deserving of UNESCO World Heritage Site.
- Depending on the day and time of your visit, you may also be treated to a traditional dance performed by Cham descendants. The splendid and flexible Shiva dance, which tells you about the golden age of the Champa dynasty, is particularly interesting and draws many visitors to this location. You will also enjoy the brilliant Shiva Dance show, which begins at 09:30 a.m. or 14h30 and lasts approximately 45 minutes to an hour. Don’t miss it!

Robert was an especially great guide, who did a fantastic job explaining different aspects of the day, while teaching us various bits about language, culture and food. We are a family with 6 children between the ages of 3 and 16, and Robert did a great job making it an awesome experience for every age. The kayaking was a lot of fun, and worked for every age. And the kids (and adults) had a great time in the cave. The private tour worked great for our family, giving us flexibility on schedule (we were running late in the morning), and the route that our boat took was away from the large crowds and never felt very busy. The food was great for lunch - much better than I expected. Shrimp, squid, fish, crab, rice, fruit, spring rolls, etc. It was really a great day, and Robert helped to make everything really nice for our family. I would 100% recommend.
