Itinerary
Hue cooking class: Hue people have had traditional customs since the old days: Mother brings up children, grandmother brings up grandchildren, sister brings up younger ones. Hue girls with good family breeding are well educated with the four attributes of an ideal woman (homemaking skills, appearance, speech, behaviour). The Homemaking skills is the first standard so although living in a rich family with a lot of servants, the girls have to learn how to go to the market and how to cook everyday.
The cuisine of Hue is known through the time by the traditional cooking families, the good cooks and famous trading villages with the local special foods like: Bun Bo Hue (Hue Beef noodle), Banh Khoai (Hue Fried Pancakes), Va Tron (Fig Salad), Nem ran (fried spring roll)… Each dish is a treasure of cuisine as lofty as the soul of Hue people.
Hue Cooking Class is a daily cooking class in Hue for foodies to learn how to cook the amazing dishes of Hue with a local English Speaking Chef. Besides that, you have the opportunity to have a real experience with the locals by trying their daily routines yourself.
9 a.m: Our driver will pick you up at your hotel by Scooter to start the tour. You will have the opportunity to see the rice fields, some family temples and local markets on the way to the Thanh Toan village when you are behind a scooter. Coming to Thanh Toan tiled – Roof bridge, one of the oldest wooden bridges in Vietnam was built in 1776 by Mrs. Tran Thi Dao, the wife of an old Mandarin of the Nguyen family. You will walk around in this area and visit the Agricultural Tools Museum with many old tools which were used on the rice field in the old days. Here, you will know the old methods to plant the rice, cut the rice, catch the fish…from the old lady spent a lot of time working as a farmer. Take a rest and enjoy refreshment on the Thanh Toan Tiled-Roof Bridge before going to the cooking class in a small farm garden.
11h30: Our driver will drive you to the small Farm garden to join Hue Cooking Class with two special dishes in Hue: Va Tron Tom Thit (Fig Salad with shrimp and pork) and Nem Ran (Fried Spring Rolls)
The English Speaking Chef will explain why he / she chooses these dishes to instruct you and how to cook these with many ingredients. And he / she will be ready to explain to you anything you want to know, no more secret at Hue Cooking Class.
After finishing cooking class, you will enjoy what you have just cooked and also enjoy some more food like Vietnamese daily meals: white rice, fried vegetables with garlic, soup, braised chicken with lemongrass and chili and fruit for dessert.
13h00: After enjoying your lunch, our scooter driver will take you back to your hotel and finish the tour “Hue Cooking Class”.
